Splach Zippy Ultra: a modular phone mount and charging system
Tesla interiors favor a minimalist layout, which can be inconvenient for drivers who rely on quick access to their phones.
All current Teslas include built-in wireless charging in the center console, but that placement makes incoming notifications harder to see. The limitation is more noticeable because Tesla hasn’t implemented Apple CarPlay or Android Auto.
Amid numerous third-party options, e‑mobility manufacturer Splach—known for e‑bikes and e‑scooters—has launched a Kickstarter campaign for the Zippy Ultra. The device is a transparent, modular mounting and charging system designed to position a smartphone alongside the primary infotainment screen. Learn more at the Kickstarter page.
A Clever 3-in-1 Modular Layout
The Zippy Ultra centers on a 3‑in‑1 modular design that includes a smartphone holder, a detachable power bank, and a broad multi‑mount hardware kit.
The holder and the 4,200mAh power bank connect via a magnetic pin layout to form a single charging pack, yet each can operate independently. The power bank can be removed from the primary bracket at any time and used as a standalone, pocket‑friendly charger.
Even with the power bank removed, the holder remains functional. A touch‑sensitive rear button activates a motorized open‑and‑clamp mechanism, with arms that automatically open and close to secure devices measuring 72mm to 102mm wide.
Wireless charging while docked requires reattaching the power bank, which provides a 15W wireless output.
Designed for Teslas, Laptops, and Beyond
Although frequently shown in a Tesla cabin, the mount is not limited to a single vehicle. The bracket is engineered to clamp onto any display with a thickness between 6mm and 15mm. Dual adjustment knobs let users expand or compress the bracket’s depth to fit devices such as laptops, desktop monitors, and bikes.
Once clamped, an integrated metal extension arm can rotate a full circle, letting users set the phone at virtually any angle relative to the main display. Paired with a 17mm universal ball joint, the holder supports 360‑degree rotation for quick portrait‑to‑landscape switching.
Campaign Status and Availability
The Kickstarter campaign has surpassed its initial $1,000 USD goal, raising $5,857 USD from 61 backers at the time of writing, with nearly a month of funding still open.
Early bird tiers currently start at $59 USD — a 50% discount off the planned $119 USD retail price — and include the core charging block, a metal screen mount, a clamp‑style vent mount, and a hanging cable. Splach expects to distribute backer rewards and begin global shipping in July 2026.
Tesla has experimented with selling wireless portable chargers in the past, but it has not offered a fully integrated screen‑side mounting system.
