Tesla Adds Real-Time Toll Estimates in South Korea

Tesla’s built-in navigation, which already plans charging stops, estimates energy use in real time, and adjusts routes for quicker charging or lighter traffic, is gaining another capability.
With software update 2026.14.6, the company extends those predictions to include toll costs. In South Korea, Estimated Toll Fees now appear directly in route planning, with applicable EV discounts taken into account.
Predicting Tolls
In North America, the system may show toll prices, but coverage is not universal.
In South Korea, the update adds dynamic toll estimates next to time and distance for each suggested route, giving drivers clearer information during trip planning.
Discount Integration
The feature can identify and apply discounted EV rates where available. Many agencies worldwide encourage EV adoption by reducing or waiving tolls.
By integrating regional rules natively—starting with South Korea—the navigation relies on more than a static, generalized price list.
Tesla can determine how many occupants are in the vehicle and use HOV lanes and toll lanes appropriately.
Rollout
For now, the rollout appears limited to South Korea, which has a dense, standardized highway toll network and government-backed EV incentive frameworks.
Piloting in a smaller market lets Tesla verify its pricing and data algorithms before expanding to areas such as North America and Europe, where toll systems are often highly localized or privately operated.
