First look at Tesla's FSD Visualization Zoom Feature [VIDEO]

Tesla has introduced a display control that lets drivers fix the visualization camera’s zoom, keeping a preferred view of nearby traffic on the screen.

The control first appeared in the Summer 2026 feature drop with software update 2026.26, where it was limited to Model S and Model X. It is now expanding to Model 3 and Model Y with software update 2026.26.1, and it works on both Intel and AMD infotainment hardware generations.

Preset Zoom Levels Over Dynamic Scaling

Previously, the central display adjusted its zoom automatically based on the driving situation—zooming in on open roads for close-up detail and zooming out near intersections to show cross traffic and adjacent lanes.

With the new option, drivers can override that behavior. Under Controls > Self-Driving > Visualization Camera Zoom, three fixed scales are available:

• 0.5x zoom for a wider perspective of surrounding traffic
• 1x zoom for a standard balanced view
• 2x zoom for a close-up look around the vehicle

Choosing a preset locks the visualization UI to that scale instead of continuously changing with traffic conditions.

Fleet Availability and FSD Integration

The visualization zoom control is rolling out to Model S, Model X, Model 3, and Model Y. It supports both Intel Atom and AMD Ryzen processors. Model 3 and Model Y require update 2026.26.1 to access the toggle, and it’s not yet clear whether Cybertruck will get it in the same wave.

The toggle appears to be tied to Full Self-Driving, showing only for owners who have purchased FSD or have an active subscription.

This addition arrives alongside other Summer 2026 features, including in-browser video calls, preferred route learning, and a redesigned Caraoke app with live scoring.

As the rollout continues, real-world use should clarify whether the custom visualization scaling also applies during manual driving or only when FSD is active.
