After years of pilot operations and a gradual production ramp, Tesla is preparing to showcase its dedicated commercial truck facility. Invitations are being sent for the Tesla Semi "Rollout" event on September 24 at the new Semi factory in Sparks, Nevada.

Automotive teardown expert Sandy Munro (@live_munro) shared his invitation on X, indicating that the guest list is taking shape. This follows Tesla’s announcement of the Nevada Semi event late last month.

The digital invite shows a head-on view of the refreshed Semi framed by illuminated tunnel arches and confirms the date and location. Attendees may bring one guest, and entry is limited to guests 21 and older.

It remains unclear whether the event will be livestreamed. Last week’s Cybercab launch in Austin wasn’t broadcast to the public, and because heavy-duty Class 8 haulers target commercial fleet logistics rather than everyday consumers, the company may keep this as a closed-door industry gathering.

What to Expect at the Nevada Event

The Semi Rollout will officially mark the opening of the 1.7 million-square-foot factory, which is intended to eventually produce up to 50,000 trucks annually.

Attendees can expect:

• Factory tours: Guided walk-throughs of newly commissioned high-volume assembly lines, demonstrating vertical integration and pack assembly.
• Demo rides: Ride-alongs in the refreshed Semi, showcasing the cabin layout, driver comfort features, low-vibration cabin acoustics, independent front suspension, and more.
• Production innovations: Details on updated hardware, including electric steering assistance, 48-volt electronics, and custom 4680 battery cells.
• Fleet economics: Breakdowns illustrating how the Semi’s high efficiency and lower maintenance contribute to a reduced total cost of ownership versus diesel rigs.
• Autonomy roadmaps: Potential updates on autonomous capabilities after Tesla confirmed earlier this summer that Full Self-Driving (Supervised) is coming to the Semi. Production Semi units have even been spotted with FSD testing hardware on public roads.
• Global availability: Possible discussion of plans to expand Semi availability beyond the U.S., following news that the Semi is officially coming to Europe with customer deliveries beginning in 2027.

Moving Beyond Low-Volume Pilot Fleets

Tesla first unveiled the Semi in 2017, with deliveries starting in late 2022 in limited volume. Last fall, the company introduced the refreshed Semi in two trims: Standard Range and Long Range. Momentum increased when the first units rolled off the high-volume production line in Nevada in April.
