Building on recent regulatory breakthroughs and successful testing campaigns in Europe, Tesla appears poised to expand FSD worldwide. New job listings indicate the company is recruiting internal FSD Vehicle Operators across Asia, the Middle East, and additional European markets.
The Global Expansion
Tesla’s official careers page shows openings for full-time Vehicle Operators to support the Autopilot team in several regions and cities.
Asia: Seoul, South Korea; Kowloon, Hong Kong; Bangkok, Thailand; Mumbai, India.
Middle East: Riyadh, Saudi Arabia; Istanbul, Turkey.
Europe: Vienna, Austria; Vilnius, Lithuania; Voluntari, Romania.
What Does a Vehicle Operator Do?
FSD Vehicle Operators are core to Tesla’s autonomous rollout. These internal employees drive company-owned vehicles running the latest, often unreleased, software builds.
The role focuses on exercising localized FSD software to its limits: running predefined, complex routes to gather high-quality data, uncover regional edge cases, and document any disengagements for the engineering team.
The resulting localized driving data is sent to Tesla’s supercomputers to further train end-to-end neural networks on scenarios specific to each area.
Why Localized Testing is Crucial
An autonomous system trained in one location cannot be expected to work seamlessly everywhere. Driving culture, road markings, pedestrian behavior, and infrastructure differ widely around the world.

Mumbai’s dense, unpredictable traffic presents very different challenges compared with Vienna’s historic, narrow streets or Riyadh’s expansive highways. By deploying official testers in such varied environments, Tesla is assembling the specialized, localized datasets needed to refine the software for each region.
Global Release
This focused hiring push aligns with Tesla’s 2026 strategy. As the company secures regulatory approvals in the Netherlands and logs flawless testing miles in Spain, rolling out dedicated testing fleets in Eastern Europe, the Middle East, and Asia indicates preparation for a truly global launch of FSD Supervised.
After these internal operators collect sufficient localized data to demonstrate safety and effectiveness, Tesla will be positioned to approach local regulators and, in time, make the software available to customers in these large international markets.
