Tesla’s European operations have reached a major milestone. Gigafactory Berlin-Brandenburg, the company’s primary manufacturing hub for Europe, has produced 750,000 vehicles since beginning operations in 2022.

Tesla Manufacturing marked the achievement on X. The post includes a high-energy video that shows the scale of operations, from large casting presses to final assembly where thousands of Model Y vehicles are completed each week.

A Powerhouse of Precision Engineering

Beyond the 750,000-vehicle total, Giga Berlin has produced 1 million drive units, and its stamping shop has manufactured over 10 million individual parts. This high level of vertical integration supports industry-leading margins and rapid scaling.

The factory features what Tesla calls the most advanced paint shop in the world. With hundreds of robots, it can apply up to seven layers of paint to achieve depth and quality at high volumes. For the "final check" process, vehicles can drive themselves to the outbound lot using Full Self-Driving (FSD). Model Y vehicles at Giga Berlin have already driven a combined 93,000 miles (150,000 km) on FSD without a human behind the wheel for this transfer.

Scaling Up for a Record Year

The company is implementing a 20% production increase that will add 1,000 new workers at the plant. This expansion follows a record first quarter in 2026, when Giga Berlin averaged nearly 4,700 vehicles per week.

Plant manager André Thierig has emphasized the team’s progress and the goal of continuing to push the site’s capacity. The growth also fulfills a promise made by Elon Musk to reward employees after they voted against a union majority in a recent works council election.

The Road to 1 Million and Beyond

By 2027, Tesla plans to have 8 GWh of battery production capacity active at the site, reducing reliance on outside suppliers. With the 1-million-vehicle milestone in sight, the factory remains a central pillar of the company’s global expansion.

As the Model Y continues to rank among the world’s best-selling cars, Giga Berlin’s efficiency is a key competitive advantage. The factory is expected to reach the million-car milestone by mid-2027 — potentially earlier with additional staff and a continued production ramp. This progress underscores the efficiency of the German workforce and indicates that Tesla's "machine that builds the machine" is working as intended.
