Tesla FSD (Supervised) Approved for Launch in Czechia

Tesla’s European rollout of Full Self-Driving (Supervised) has advanced again, with the Czech Republic authorizing its use on public roads and opening access for owners in Central Europe.

The approval was confirmed by Tesla Europe on X, which stated that FSD will begin rolling out in Czechia soon.

This makes Czechia the seventh EU nation to permit customer operation of FSD (Supervised), arriving just a couple of weeks after Slovenia ended a two-month pause in European approvals as the sixth country to welcome the software.

FSD Snowballs in Europe

The Czech Republic now joins a growing group that includes the Netherlands, Lithuania, Estonia, Denmark, Belgium, and Slovenia.

These swift, country-by-country decisions are being granted through national exemptions. Rather than waiting for a single regulation from the European Commission, member states have been adopting the framework established by Dutch vehicle regulator RDW earlier this spring. By recognizing the Dutch type-approval locally, transport authorities can authorize customer testing within their borders while EU-wide decisions proceed on a separate track.

An EU-wide vote on FSD is scheduled for later this fall. In the meantime, some countries, such as Italy, are nearing independent approvals, while others, including France and Sweden, are opposing a bloc-wide rollout due to FSD’s Speed Offset feature, which can in some cases allow speeds above posted limits.

Globally, the software’s footprint continues to grow. Across North America, Australia, New Zealand, Asia, and Europe, FSD has expanded across 15 countries.

In markets where it is available, FSD is also showing benefits. Tesla recently reported that FSD reduced road accidents by 40% in Australia and New Zealand over its first year of availability.

What Owners in Czechia Should Expect

Despite the name, FSD remains classified as an SAE Level 2 advanced driver-assistance feature. Drivers must keep their eyes on the road and hands ready to take over at any time, and they remain fully responsible for the vehicle. In-cabin cameras enforce attentiveness with escalating visual and audio alerts if attention wanes.

When customer downloads begin in Czechia, vehicles will receive a localized European build of FSD v14. This regional variant incorporates speed limits, lane-change protocols, and roundabout behaviors tailored to European road conventions. The initial rollout will target Hardware 4 vehicles first, while Hardware 3 owners will have to wait for FSD v14 Lite in Europe.

With Czechia on board and additional European applications under review, Tesla is steadily validating its vision-only system across the continent. FSD v14 is expected to begin reaching Czech drivers in the coming weeks.
