Tesla app update 4.61.0: Passkey Support, Share Camera, and Supercharger Site Maps

Passkey Support

This update adds passkey support to the Tesla app.

A passkey is a digital credential that lets you sign in using Face ID, Touch ID without typing a password. Passkeys use two cryptographic parts: a private key stored on your phone and a public key registered with Tesla’s authentication servers, making them more secure than traditional passwords that can be more easily guessed.

Setup takes less than a minute in the app:

1. Open the Menu.
2. Tap on your profile name and select Security & Privacy.
3. Choose Sign In Management.
4. Tap Passkey and then tap the Add Passkey button.

Availability: Available Worldwide. Compatible models: S, 3, X, Y, CT.

Share Camera

Text strings in this app update suggest Tesla may let users share their camera with a representative when requesting help. Sharing your camera could allow the representative to guide you to certain features in your vehicle. Examples found in the update include:

• Camera Share
• “Would you like to share your camera with a representative? They will only see the camera to guide you.”
• “Allow camera access in Settings to share your camera with a representative.”

Supercharger Site Maps

This update adds Supercharger Site Maps to the iOS app. When you zoom in on a Supercharger site, the app switches to a Site Map view that shows stall orientations, which stalls are occupied, and the types of vehicles that are charging.

The Site Maps also include support for the Cybercab. While Site Maps are available in the vehicle as well, they still do not show the Cybercab as its own vehicle yet.
