Tesla Robot: Commands and Phone Key
The latest app update introduces several robot-related strings that could pertain to Optimus.
These strings reference robot controls such as e-stop (emergency stop) and resume, as well as items related to home data collection. There are also multiple references to a robot phone key and its pairing flow.
It is too early to conclude this is meant for consumer use, but a phone key could be used so Optimus accepts commands only from authorized individuals.
Examples of keys identified in the app include:
- robot_alerts_filter_all
- robot_estop_slide_for_estop
- robot_home_data_collection_title
- robot_phone_key_connected
- robot_phone_key_error_cannot_communicate
Self-Driving Stats
This update enables Self-Driving stats in the mobile app that were first noted back in February. The UI has since been updated to better align with the Self-Driving app available in the vehicle.
The app and the vehicle use the same code to render these stats. In the app, they are displayed in a webview, and the vehicle also renders the Self-Driving app using HTML.
The new Self-Driving section in the app shows your percentage of miles driven on FSD.
When opened, it presents the same metrics as the vehicle, including miles driven on FSD, percentage of miles on FSD since FSD v14.2, the number of consecutive days you’ve used FSD, and more.
This isn’t limited to HW4 vehicles. The stats are also available for HW3 vehicles that have received FSD v14 Lite, which is currently rolling out.
Custom Wraps in the App
With this release and the upcoming Summer Update, the app adds support for uploading custom vehicle wraps.
Wraps are simple PNG images, making them easy to save and share on social platforms.
After saving an image to your phone, you can upload it through the app under Creations > Wrap.
The app will preview your vehicle with the wrap and lets you upload it directly to the car without using a USB drive.
A decompile also indicates there is a limit to how many wraps can be stored, with phrases such as “Wrap Storage Full” and “Your vehicle has reached the wrap upload limit. Replace your oldest uploaded wrap with this one?”
Requirements
- A vehicle with an AMD or Intel infotainment unit
- All vehicle models are supported
- A configured phone key is required to upload wraps; logging in to your account alone is not sufficient
- Wrap storage limit not reached
This feature requires Tesla vehicle update 2026.26.
