Tesla has updated its online configurator for its North American markets to introduce the Frost Blue and Marine Blue exterior color options to the Model 3 and Model Y.
Marine Blue, previously a European and Asia-Pacific exclusive, is available on the Model 3 and Model Y RWD and AWD Premium trims. Frost Blue, previously a Model S and Model X exclusive, is now available on the Model 3 and Model Y Performance.
Frost Blue for Performance
Tesla is giving its highest-tier variants a premium visual identifier. Frost Blue was short-lived on the Model S and Model X, available only from June 2025 to April 2026, when the models were discontinued.
Buyers of the Model 3 and Model Y Performance in North America do not see an additional premium for selecting this color. Due to current promotions on the Performance variants, all exterior and interior color options are included.
Marine Blue for Premium
For the volume-selling Rear-Wheel Drive and All-Wheel Drive Premium trims, Tesla has introduced the Marine Blue color. This color was previously exclusive to the European and Asia-Pacific markets. Tesla has offered various blue colors on the Model 3 and Model Y, including Glacier Blue, Deep Blue Metallic, Abyss Blue, and now Frost Blue.
Unlike the Performance model, Tesla is not running promotions on its most popular trims, and selecting Marine Blue has a $1,000 USD premium. With the arrival of Marine Blue to North America, the last remaining region-exclusive paint option is Glacier Blue, still limited to buyers in the Asia-Pacific markets.
The Standard, or non-Premium models, are still limited to three colors: Stealth Grey, Pearl White, and Diamond Black.
The Canadian Situation
The rollout becomes complicated for Canadian buyers due to international supply chain logistics. Recent government tariffs have altered how Tesla sources vehicles for the Canadian market, forcing the automaker to import the Model Y Performance directly from Gigafactory Berlin.
Because the Berlin paint shop is configured for the European palette, Canadian Model Y Performance buyers cannot currently select Frost Blue. Instead, their highest-tier Model Y is available in Marine Blue. However, to maintain regional pricing parity, Tesla is offering Marine Blue as an included, zero-dollar option for these imported Performance units.
The Canadian Model 3 Performance remains unaffected by these tariff logistics and is still being imported from the United States, meaning it has access to the Frost Blue trim.
