Tesla Update 2026.8 — The Undocumented Changes

Most of the Tesla fleet has now moved to Tesla version 2026.8. If you are on the FSD branch, you remain on update 2026.2 for now. Those vehicles are expected to receive an FSD v14.3 build bundled with the Spring Update in the coming weeks, skipping update 2026.8.

Although 2026.8 is a relatively small release, it adds several items: Blind Spot Warning While Parked for Cybertruck; Comfort Braking that makes braking smoother for the new Model Y; the option to hide navigation suggestions; and Autopilot has been renamed to Self-Driving.

A notable change not called out in the release notes is an upgraded Dashcam Viewer that now automatically categorizes videos.

Dashcam Viewer Improvements

The viewer now places recent Dashcam clips at the top, making it easier to review footage that was not saved.

This unsaved footage is continuously overwritten, and the vehicle retains only the last hour by default.

With update 2026.8, the amount of unsaved history is increasing to up to 24 hours.

Driver Profile

The Tesla app now shows which driver profile is active in the vehicle under Security & Drivers.

Although any profile can be used unless it is protected by a PIN, this helps indicate who is currently driving.

The profile name is also shown when the vehicle is not being driven, in which case it reflects the last used profile.

A Bluetooth icon may appear to indicate whether the current device is being used as a phone key.

This requires vehicle update 2026.8 and a recent app update.

Slovak Language Support

Vehicle menus and settings are now localized to Slovak.

Service Mode Improvements

Speakers Panel Update - Check Speakers Action

A Check Speakers action has been added to the speakers panel to support diagnosis of speaker circuitry and allow users to confirm speaker circuit functionality.

Panel Updates - DTC Component Mapping

Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) are now mapped to affected components in the Drive Unit, HV Battery, Thermal, and Charging panels. When a confirmed DTC appears in the Alerts & DTCs panel, users can see which specific component is affected within these panels.

Spring Update

Many owners have already received version 2026.14. For those still on 2026.2 with FSD v14.3, the expectation is that Tesla will merge FSD with the Spring Update once FSD v14.3 is stable and goes wide.
