After several challenging months amid intense price competition, particularly in China, Tesla reported a sharp rebound. The company logged its best April on record in China, Germany, and South Korea as it advances toward an AI- and robotics-focused future.

A Record-Breaking Month in Asia

In China, according to data shared by Tesla watcher Sawyer Merritt (@SawyerMerritt), April sales of China-made EVs rose 36% year over year to 79,478 units, a new high for the month. The total includes domestic deliveries and exports from Giga Shanghai, which remains the company’s primary export hub.

Momentum extended to South Korea, where Tesla sold 13,190 vehicles, surpassing the combined sales of BMW and Mercedes-Benz. This set the company’s highest monthly total ever in South Korea, topping the record it set in March by 2,000 units.

European Resurgence and the FSD Domino Effect

Europe is also experiencing a major sales resurgence. In Germany, Tesla recorded 3,149 sales in April, capturing nearly 5% of the battery-electric vehicle (BEV) segment. Data from Roland Pircher (@piloly) shows this was a 256% increase compared to April last year.

The rebound across the region is led by Model Y, which continued to dominate as the best-selling vehicle in Norway and nearly doubled sales in several European markets. The timing coincides with Tesla beginning its Full Self-Driving (FSD) rollout in Europe. Following approval in the Netherlands last month, countries such as Belgium are already fast-tracking their own approval processes. The industry expects a "domino effect" as additional European nations authorize the software.

From Automaker to AI Powerhouse

Beyond the sales figures, Tesla is transitioning from a traditional automaker to a company focused on AI and robotics. This demand underpins upcoming launches, including the Cybercab robotaxi and FSD v15, which Elon Musk has teased as a major 10x parameter upgrade.

As Tesla stabilizes market share in China and Europe, it is emphasizing software-driven recurring revenue and evaluating potential additions such as a three-row, six-seat Model Y L. With record April results providing momentum, the company is positioned to advance the next phase of autonomous mobility.
