Tesla FSD V14.1 Lite Rolls Out: First Impressions

Tesla released FSD v14.1 Lite to early access testers over the weekend, and the update is now reaching more owners with Tesla update 2026.21.6. FSD v14.1 Lite builds on the earlier v14 Lite release with refinements.

FSD v14 Lite initially went out in late June. As with many major FSD releases, there were some regressions, even though it was far more capable than FSD v12.6. This point release does not introduce new features; it aims to make FSD feel more confident and smoother.

Tesla owner Zack shared his first impressions of FSD v14.1 Lite after more than 150 miles behind the wheel.

V14.1 Lite Improvements

Compared with its larger counterpart, the Lite model mainly differs in smoothness, confidence, and reaction times. A prior comparison looked at reaction times for FSD v12.6, FSD v14 Lite, and FSD v14.3.6. While FSD v14 Lite improved significantly versus v12.6.4, it was still noticeably slower than the larger v14 model for HW4.

Confidence

In Zack’s review, FSD v14.1 Lite showed greater confidence than v14 Lite and eliminated accelerator pulsations. Previously, v14 Lite would briefly tap the accelerator without intending to move forward. Over more than 100 miles in that review, he did not observe this behavior and believes it is gone.

He also noted stronger commitment to turns. When the system determined it was safe, it initiated and completed turns with less hesitation.

Steering Wheel Wobble

The steering wheel wobble seen in FSD v14 Lite and even v12.6—where the vehicle is nearly stopped and the wheel jitters left and right—remains present, but appears improved in this release.

Parking

FSD v14 Lite has struggled with parking and reversing, and this update does not markedly improve those behaviors. Parking remains hit or miss, and the vehicle may park at an angle or outside the lines.

Release

Despite lingering issues, this update shows clear gains in confidence over the previous v14 Lite build. It does not aim for v14-level capabilities, but FSD v14 Lite significantly improves the experience for HW3 owners and includes features such as Start FSD from Park, Arrival Options, FSD Stats, Streaks, and more. This point release focuses on refinement and removing flawed behavior.

After a brief period with early access testers, the rollout is expanding to Tesla owners in North America. FSD v14 Lite has already been released in South Korea, and broader international availability may take longer.
