Tesla Robotaxi 20-Hour Service to 2 AM, Adds Calm Mode

Tesla is accelerating updates to Cybercab and its Robotaxi network, extending daily operating hours and rolling out new features. The latest changes include a 2 am closing time, Calm Mode, a rear camera view, and redesigned Live Activities for the iOS app. Elon Musk also signaled that beach access is planned for the Miami and Tampa service areas.
Robotaxi Now Operates 20 Hours a Day
According to Tesla’s official Robotaxi update, operating hours are now 6 am to 2 am, creating a 20-hour service window. That leaves just four hours before round-the-clock availability.
Earlier this month, Tesla extended Robotaxi hours by one hour to 11 pm, and less than two weeks later it extended service to midnight. Now, the company has added another two hours, again in under two weeks.
Tesla did not specify which markets receive the longer hours, or whether the change is limited to Cybercab. The company’s support page notes that availability can vary by area. It wouldn’t be surprising if the extended hours are limited to the Cybercab, thanks to its more powerful FSD hardware.
New Calm Mode, Rear Camera Views and More
Tesla introduced Calm Mode, which dims the display, removes FSD visualizations, and adjusts cabin lighting for a more relaxing ride.
Passengers can now view the rear-facing camera feed during trips, which is helpful because the Cybercab doesn’t have a rear windshield.
Tesla says that riders using Model Y Robotaxis now also have access to Grok. The update also includes accessibility enhancements such as an improved vehicle-locating arrow in the app, haptic feedback to help passengers find their ride, and music controls accessible through a screen reader.
Updated Live Activities and Trip Sharing
Robotaxi now supports an improved Live Activity experience and the ability to share trip details with a friend.

The Live Activity notification now matches the color assigned to your Cybercab. The card displays the license plate and pickup progress, with corresponding updates on Apple Watch. The matching colors help distinguish your vehicle when multiple Cybercabs are nearby.
Miami and Tampa Beach Expansion Planned
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis asked that Tesla’s Miami and Tampa geofences include beach destinations. In an October 27 reply, Elon Musk indicated that the additional coverage is on the way but did not provide a launch date or identify specific beaches.
The planned Florida expansion follows Tesla’s recent Houston service-area expansion. Waymo has recently also announced geofence increases.
