Tesla has added another paint choice for the Model Y in Europe, making a new look available on the most affordable version of the crossover. As announced by @teslaeurope on X, “Coastal Blue” is now offered on the Model Y Rear-Wheel Drive (RWD) in Europe.
The color is produced at Gigafactory Berlin. Tesla has described the Giga Berlin paint shop as the "most advanced" in the world, delivering "more layers and stunning colors that subtly change with curvature."

A New Look for the Entry-Level Trim
With the arrival of Coastal Blue, the entry-level Model Y now has four paint options. Previously marketed as the “Standard” variant, the base model is now known simply as the Model Y RWD. Since its European debut last fall, the trim’s palette has included Stealth Grey (included), Pearl White Multi-Coat (€1,300), and Diamond Black (€1,300). Coastal Blue is also a €1,300 upgrade across European configurators.
The Model Y RWD is a cost-focused alternative to the higher-priced versions. To reach its lower price point, it is slower and offers less overall range. It also omits several premium features found on upper trims, including fabric seats, a basic 7-speaker audio system, manual steering column adjustment, indirect tire pressure monitoring, and simplified acoustic glass, while dropping the rear infotainment display, ambient cabin lighting, and other amenities.

Navigating the Global Paint Lineup
Coastal Blue visually falls between other blue tones in Tesla’s range. It sits between the deeper Marine Blue offered on Premium and Performance trims in Europe and the icier, lighter Frost Blue that Tesla recently handed down to the Model Y Performance from the now-discontinued Model S and Model X in the U.S.

Frost Blue remains unavailable in Europe. There, the Model Y Performance instead offers Marine Blue like the Premium version. The current European Model Y paint lineup is summarized below:
| Trim | Paint Options |
|---|---|
| Model Y RWD | Stealth Grey (default), Pearl White Multi-Coat (€1,300 upgrade), Diamond Black (€1,300 upgrade), and Coastal Blue (€1,300 upgrade) |
| Model Y Premium Long Range RWD | Stealth Grey (default), Pearl White Multi-Coat (€1,300 upgrade), Diamond Black (€1,300 upgrade), Marine Blue (€1,300 upgrade), Quicksilver (€2,600 upgrade), and Ultra Red (€2,600 upgrade) |
| Model Y Premium Long Range AWD | Stealth Grey (default), Pearl White Multi-Coat (€1,300 upgrade), Diamond Black (€1,300 upgrade), Marine Blue (€1,300 upgrade), Quicksilver (€2,600 upgrade), and Ultra Red (€2,600 upgrade) |
| Model Y Performance | Stealth Grey (default), Pearl White Multi-Coat (€1,300 upgrade), Diamond Black (€1,300 upgrade), Marine Blue (€1,300 upgrade), Quicksilver (€2,600 upgrade), and Ultra Red (€2,600 upgrade) |
Although Coastal Blue is limited to Europe for now, it may follow a familiar path. The deeper Marine Blue color option launched as a European exclusive last fall before becoming available in North America just last month, so the lighter blue could make its way to Gigafactory Texas in the coming months.
