After regulatory approval of Full Self-Driving (Supervised) in the Netherlands, Tesla will require Dutch owners to complete an in-vehicle safety quiz before using the system for the first time.

The FSD (Supervised) Activation Tutorial is intended to ensure drivers understand both the capabilities and the strict limitations of the software prior to engagement.

Inside the Activation Tutorial

According to a video shared by Tesla Europe, the mandatory quiz appears on the car’s primary display when attempting to activate FSD for the first time.

The tutorial currently consists of a concise two-question quiz that must be completed and submitted, and it also explains the function of each on-screen control while using FSD.

In its initial rollout, the quiz emphasizes two key points. First, recognizing when FSD is engaged. One question asks: "Select the image where FSD (Supervised) is active." Two side-by-side UI examples are shown.

In one, standard lane lines are visible. In the correct choice, a blue steering wheel icon and a solid blue path extend from the vehicle, indicating the system is operating rather than in standby.

The second focuses on driver responsibility, asking: "Are you responsible for safe vehicle operation while FSD (Supervised) is active?" To continue, drivers must select "Yes."

Satisfying Regulatory Requirements

Although the quiz contains only two questions, it is a required step. The Netherlands approval was granted under the UN R-171 Level 2 DCAS (Driver Control Assistance Systems) regulation, within the European Union’s safety framework.

Level 2 systems require that the human driver remain the ultimate authority and fully responsible for the vehicle’s actions. The mandatory on-screen acknowledgment reinforces this requirement and the "Supervised" designation in the system’s full title.
