Tesla App 4.62.0 Code Hints FSD Referral Rewards With Free Months

Code in Tesla app version 4.62.0 (and later) indicates a forthcoming referral program for Full Self-Driving (Supervised) that would grant free FSD time when someone subscribes using a referral link.

How FSD Referrals Would Work

Strings added in the app suggest that owners who refer new FSD subscribers would receive a free month, or possibly several months, of FSD, and could apply the reward to any vehicle on their Tesla account.

The new prompts include: “If someone subscribes with your link, pick which vehicle gets the reward,” “Confirm Vehicle for Reward,” and “Select the vehicle you’d like to apply the Full Self-Driving (Supervised) trial to,” indicating these rewards will appear as free FSD trials.

The app also includes front and back artwork for a digital FSD referral coin that would likely appear after a successful referral.

A New Way to Encourage FSD Adoption

Last year, Tesla introduced FSD gift cards that covered a month of FSD (plus tax). Referral rewards take a different angle by giving existing subscribers an incentive to promote the service with free FSD time as the benefit.

During its Q3 2026 earnings call last week, Tesla said FSD reached a record 1.74 million subscribers, and 75% of new vehicle orders in North America now include a paid subscription. As FSD reaches more countries, referrals could help push those numbers higher.

No Launch Date Yet

Tesla has not announced when FSD referral rewards will roll out, but the assets are already present in the app.

The same app update also added official support for iPad, iPhone Duo, and Android tablets and foldables, and Tesla has since brought the same big-screen support to its Robotaxi app. Future app updates should clarify how many free months each referral will earn.
