Tesla Announces Summer Update: Grok Vehicle Commands, Preferred Routes, Add Vehicle Wraps in App and More

Tesla has announced its Summer Update, which is expected to be update 2026.26 (based on a recent app decompile). The release adds Grok vehicle commands, route preferences, and several other enhancements.

Grok Vehicle Commands

Grok is gaining new vehicle commands, including making phone calls, searching and playing music, adjusting climate, and opening the glovebox.

Grok Available in All of Europe

With this update, Grok will be available across all of Europe, including navigation commands and the new vehicle command features.

Send Custom Wraps from Tesla App

Owners will no longer need to remove a USB drive to add custom wraps. Custom wraps can now be uploaded directly from the Tesla app, allowing downloads from a website or social media to be sent straight to the vehicle. Tesla did not provide additional details.

Set Arrival Energy from Mobile App

Similar to functionality introduced in the vehicle with the 2024.44 update, arrival energy can now be set from the Tesla app. This lets you arrive with sufficient charge to drive at your destination or to reach a charger the following day.

Automatic Navigation

Automatic navigation is being expanded. Previously, it could automatically route to work, home, or calendar events; it will now include other common destinations.

Caraoke Score

Caraoke, introduced in 2018, is being updated to score performances. In 2024, Tesla added a Caraoke mic to its shop, making it easier for backseat passengers to participate. In 2024, Greentheonly found references hinting at the ability to record sessions, which could be added in the future. According to Tesla, Caraoke scoring will be limited to when the vehicle is in park.

Preferred Routes

The vehicle will now prioritize routes you have taken before. Previous routes will be considered whether you are driving or using FSD.

Rear Display Lock

The previous update added parental control preferences that let parents or guardians completely block Tesla Theater, the browser, and Tesla Arcade. This release adds a rear display lock, preventing rear-seat passengers from accessing videos, games, or other features.

Self-Driving Stats in App

A recent app decompile pointed to Self-Driving features coming to the Tesla app. This update introduces the ability to view your streaks directly in the app. Available items appear to include tutorials, various streaks, and total miles driven on FSD.

FSD Visualization Improvements

You can now set custom zoom levels for self-driving visualizations. The visualization already adjusts zoom based on surroundings, such as widening near intersections and adapting to your direction, speed, and nearby vehicles.

Browser Now Supports Camera and Microphone

The built-in browser can now access the cabin camera and microphone when a website’s requested permissions are accepted. This enables web apps that require audio and video, including Discord, Google Meet, and Microsoft Teams. Tesla already supports Zoom on AMD-based vehicles, and this broadens access to additional apps.

Entry Animations

The update also adds entry animations for the new Model 3 and Model Y, expected to support 2024+ Model 3 and the redesigned Model Y.

Apple Music Improvements

Apple Music now lets users add songs to the queue directly from search and artist pages.

Supercharging Improvements

It is now easier to find specific Superchargers by searching directly by name, such as Tesla Diner, in addition to by address.

Other Improvements?

The update has not begun rolling out, so full release notes are not yet available. Additional minor improvements or features limited to certain regions may be included.

Roll Out

Tesla described the update as “rolling out shortly.” The release will be gradual, with only a fraction of a percent of vehicles receiving the update in the first wave. Vehicles on the latest FSD builds will have to wait longer until these features are merged into the FSD branch.
