Musk: Tesla’s Next Earnings Call Will Add Video, Be More Entertaining

Tesla plans to revamp its earnings calls. After investors compared Tesla’s Q3 call last month to SpaceX’s more polished event the day before, Elon Musk said on X that Tesla’s next call will be a video call and “more entertaining.”

The exchange started when @TeslaBoomerMama said she wanted the next Tesla call to be on video, “with someone smiling as happily as Gwynne did yesterday.” Musk replied, “It will be next time.” When @farzyness graded SpaceX’s earnings production an “A+” and Tesla’s an “F-,” Musk answered, “Fair enough, we will make it more entertaining next time.”

SpaceX Set a High Bar

SpaceX held its second-ever earnings call on October 20, a day before Tesla’s Q3 earnings call. While Tesla stuck to its usual audio-only stream, SpaceX switched from a traditional audio webcast to a live earnings video call, broadcast from its Starlink factory in Bastrop, Texas.

The SpaceX call included visuals to accompany the metrics. It opened with a recap video, and Musk showed an animated simulation of an upper-stage Starship. Check it out:

The numbers stood out as well. SpaceX reported revenue of $14.6 billion, up 161% year-over-year, and net income of $4.4 billion. It also launched its first revenue-generating Starship mission, delivering 26 Starlink V3 satellites. Musk added that SpaceX will increase Starlink satellite bandwidth capacity 100 times the current level over the next 3 years, and the company ended the quarter with 13.6 million Starlink subscribers.

Tesla’s call included a range of updates, from record FSD subscriber growth to Robotaxi expansion timelines. If you’d rather skip the audio, a full Q3 2026 earnings call recap covers everything that was announced.

When to Expect Tesla’s First Video Call

Tesla’s next earnings call should take place in late January, covering its Q4 and full-year 2026 results. If Musk follows through, that will be the first earnings call with video.

Before that, Tesla has its annual shareholder meeting a month from now, on December 3. Shareholder meetings already include a live video feed and are typically more engaging than earnings calls, so viewers should get a more dynamic presentation there first.

Musk has not detailed what “more entertaining” will entail for Tesla’s call, but SpaceX’s factory setting, recap video, and animations outline a likely template.
