Fort Worth Joins Tesla’s Robotaxi Network With 143-Square-Mile Zone

The official Robotaxi account announced on X that service is now live in Fort Worth, with rides beginning November 2 at 6 a.m. CT/7 a.m. ET. As in Tesla’s other Texas markets, rides are fully unsupervised, with no human safety monitor in the vehicle.
This is Tesla’s first new Robotaxi city in about three months (the previous launch was Orlando and Tampa in late July). Fort Worth joins Austin, Dallas, Houston, Miami, Orlando, and Tampa as the seventh city offering unsupervised rides.
A 143-Square-Mile Service Area
The Fort Worth geofence spans about 143 square miles. The service area centers on Downtown Fort Worth, extending west to White Settlement and south to Benbrook. To the north it reaches Saginaw and follows I-35W past Loop 820, while the eastern boundary runs alongside Haltom City and Forest Hill.
By size, Fort Worth is Tesla’s third-largest unsupervised Robotaxi market, behind Austin at 272 square miles and Houston at 254 square miles. Counting the 1,098-square-mile Bay Area zone—where rides still have a human safety driver—it ranks fourth overall.
Houston recently moved up this list after its geofence expanded almost 10x, from about 25 to 254 square miles. Tesla also extended Robotaxi hours to 2 a.m. in Austin, creating a 20-hour service window, and introduced a Calm Mode that removes on-screen distractions.
A Surprise Launch
Fort Worth did not appear on Tesla’s previously shared lists of upcoming Robotaxi cities. Most recently, Tesla named Las Vegas, Phoenix, Jacksonville, and San Antonio as the next expansion targets. This unannounced addition suggests more cities, including those already named, may arrive sooner than expected.
Tesla has also begun offering free first rides for new Robotaxi riders. The promotion has been observed in Houston and Dallas; availability in Fort Worth has not yet been noted.
Cybercab Comes to the Metroplex Next
Tesla’s Cybercab is slated to launch in Dallas later this month, making it the second market after Austin to offer the purpose-built robotaxi. With Dallas adjacent, Fort Worth could be next in line for Cybercab rides, positioning the Dallas–Fort Worth area as a major Robotaxi hub.
Fort Worth service starts with Model Y robotaxis inside the 143-square-mile geofence. Given the rapid growth in Tesla’s other Texas markets, a larger service area—and potentially Cybercabs—could follow.
