As Tesla ramps up production of the Tesla Semi, the Class 8 truck is appearing more frequently. Major logistics operators have been evaluating the vehicle for months, and a new sighting indicates that one of the world’s largest retailers may soon put it to work.
A Tesla Semi carrying Costco branding was seen at a warehouse in Arizona—the first time this livery has been spotted. The truck appeared to have permanent markings, including DOT numbers and an internal vehicle ID.
Corporate Branding
In commercial fleets, adding corporate graphics to a new platform usually signals more than a trial run. During test phases, companies often use unbranded or manufacturer-owned vehicles to assess range, compatibility, and payload without drawing attention.
The Costco-branded Semi suggests the retailer is already using, or plans to use, the truck for regular deliveries.

The Hub-and-Spoke Model for Costco
The Arizona warehouse sighting fits the type of operation where the Tesla Semi excels. Wholesale retailers rely on a hub-and-spoke distribution model that moves goods from large centralized distribution centers to regional stores.
These routes are predictable and typically within the Semi’s range, enabling planned charging at warehouses or distribution centers.
This truck appears to be the pre-high-volume production version, identified by the absence of the front light bar.
Older Design
Tesla has built many of these earlier units for production use, but switched to an updated design for mass manufacturing. The updated Semi reduces weight and increases efficiency through various improvements.
If Costco expands the Semi to more distribution centers, it will likely deploy the latest version.
