Tesla Launches New Zen Grey Model Y Interior in Europe

Tesla has updated its European design studio for the Model Y, replacing the long-standing "Black and White" interior on Model Y Premium (formerly Long Range) with a new "Zen Grey" option.

The change was first noted by community member @EFIEBER_ANDRE on X. It applies to both Rear-Wheel Drive and All-Wheel Drive versions of the Model Y Premium. The new option replaces the Black and White interior trim and, like the previous upgrade, is priced at €1,200. The bright white interior remains available as an upgrade on the Model Y Performance, while the base Model Y continues to come only with the All Black Interior.

Zen Grey is now offered on Model Y Premium RWD and AWD orders in multiple European markets, including Germany, the UK, France, and Scandinavia.

Comparing Zen Grey to the Classic White Cabin

The classic Black and White interior paired bright white seats with high-contrast black elements on the center console, armrest, door pulls, and other trim pieces.

Zen Grey introduces a more uniform look: seats are finished in light grey vegan leather, and the door armrests, center console sides, and wireless charging deck are color-matched in the same grey tone. The lower cabin adopts lighter materials overall, while the headliner remains black. Here’s a visual comparison of the two interior trims:

The Global Zen Grey Rollout

In April, Tesla replaced the white Model Y interior with Zen Grey in China and updated export vehicles built at Gigafactory Shanghai for Australia, New Zealand, South Korea, Japan, the Philippines, and other markets served by that factory. Gigafactory Berlin is now rolling out the same change for European production.

Tesla often pilots hardware revisions at Giga Shanghai before wider adoption, as seen earlier this year when it introduced a black headliner for the Model Y.

Zen Grey first appeared on the longer-wheelbase Model Y L in China last year. With Tesla launching the six-seat Model Y L in the U.S. last month ahead of September deliveries, the Zen Grey option is already available on at least one model in the U.S.
