Slovakia Is 9th European Country to Approve Tesla Assisted Driving

Slovakia has approved Tesla’s Full Self-Driving (Supervised) for use on public roads. Tesla Europe announced the decision on X, saying the supervised autonomy software is approved and will begin rolling out in the country soon. With this decision, Slovakia becomes the ninth European nation to green-light FSD, which in Europe has been renamed Tesla Assisted Driving.
Where Tesla Assisted Driving Is Approved in Europe
So far, these countries have independently approved FSD for public roads:
- Netherlands
- Lithuania
- Estonia
- Denmark
- Belgium
- Slovenia
- Czechia
- Croatia
- Slovakia

Most approvals have been granted via national exemptions that follow the framework first established by Dutch regulators. Slovakia follows neighboring Czechia, which approved FSD in September, and Croatia later the same month. Worldwide, FSD has now been approved in 17 countries.

As in other European markets, the rollout is expected to begin with HW4 vehicles running Tesla’s European build of FSD v14, tuned for regional speed limits, lane-change behavior, and roundabout norms.
The Road to EU-Wide Approval
National approvals are one step in a broader plan. An EU vote on bloc-wide approval was delayed to December, and winning it will require a qualified majority with at least 15 countries in favor.

Germany could be pivotal. After indicating it was open to approving FSD, Germany’s Transport Ministry agreed to support FSD in the EU vote if Tesla renamed it and limited it to exceeding speed limits by no more than 10%. Tesla has implemented the name change, though it has not confirmed a cap on TAD’s Speed Offset toggle. France and Sweden continue to oppose bloc-wide approval due to the Speed Offset feature, which can allow driving above posted limits.
More Countries Could Follow
Tesla is pursuing more national exemptions ahead of December. Discussions are ongoing with Italy, and Ireland is nearing its own decision. With nine countries already on board and Germany backing the effort, Tesla needs at least six additional votes to reach the 15-country threshold. Owners in Slovakia should begin seeing Tesla Assisted Driving in their vehicles over the coming weeks.
