Tesla Robotaxi App Widens Abroad, Rides Limited to 7 U.S. Cities

Tesla’s Robotaxi app is now offered in additional countries and can be downloaded from the Apple App Store and Google Play Store in the U.K., Australia, Germany, Italy, Sweden and Singapore, with more regions included.

Despite the broader availability, don’t expect a driverless Model Y or the steering wheel-less Cybercab to appear in London or Berlin yet. Overseas availability mainly lets travelers install the app at home and use the service while visiting the U.S.

Anyone Can Download the Robotaxi App Now

Access has expanded significantly since launch. When the Robotaxi service entered beta last summer, the companion app was iOS-only and required a waitlist. An Android version arrived earlier this spring, ending nearly a year of iPhone exclusivity.

Today, anyone with the app can request a ride if they are within an active service area. For international users, that means the app can be set up before a trip to the U.S.

Robotaxi Is Still Limited to Seven U.S. Cities

Although the app is accessible in many countries, service areas remain constrained. Robotaxi currently operates in seven U.S. cities:

Austin
San Francisco
Dallas
Houston
Miami
Orlando
Tampa

Cybercab rides are available exclusively in Austin right now, though vehicles have also been spotted in other active markets like Miami and Dallas.

Austin is also the most recent market to see changes: Tesla extended Robotaxi hours there last week, with commercial rides now running until 11 p.m.

When Could Robotaxi Go International?

The network itself hasn’t expanded beyond the U.S. yet, even though the app has. Elon Musk said last month that the Cybercab could be coming soon to Europe, but that was a hint rather than a firm timeline. European regulators also haven’t finalized bloc-wide approval for supervised Full Self-Driving.

Tesla will likely expand coverage across more of the U.S. before turning to international markets. For now, making the app available abroad mainly benefits visitors, and rides in Europe or Asia remain some distance away.
