Display units of Tesla’s stretched Model Y L are starting to appear in U.S. stores as production ramps up at Gigafactory Texas. A recent aerial view shared by drone enthusiast @AirwaveDynamics showed the outbound lot filled with Launch Series Model Y L vehicles, many in the new Cosmic Silver exterior with a Zen Grey interior, alongside delivery-ready units in Diamond Black and Stealth Grey. These configurations are now making their way directly to showroom floors.

First Impressions From the Showroom Floor

Multiple locations have refreshed their display vehicles. @SDembraski checked out a Model Y L at Tesla’s Naperville store in Chicago, and @RoadsterDogOn saw a Cosmic Silver example with a Zen Grey interior and 20-inch Uberhelix wheels at the Tesla store in Tysons, Virginia. While these early cars are for static display and not yet available for public test drives, visitors can sit in all three rows and explore the updated cabin layout.

U.S. Orders and Availability

This showroom rollout follows Tesla launching the six-seat Model Y L in the U.S. earlier this month. The variant first appeared in China last summer and is now available to order in North America starting at $61,990, with initial customer deliveries planned for September. Demand is high, with new orders already trending toward an October–November delivery window at the time of writing.

Orders placed during the initial production window include a special Launch Series package. It adds exclusive launch badging and bespoke accents, plus a free year of Supercharging and Full Self-Driving (Supervised). A camouflaged Model Y L was also seen running validation laps on a test track in Germany, suggesting a European launch could follow. For U.S. shoppers considering an order, visiting a local store to experience a display unit is an effective way to evaluate the added third row before deliveries begin this fall.
