Tesla FSD Hits 1.74 Million Subs, 75% Attach Rate In Q3 2026
Tesla’s Full Self-Driving (Supervised) became a larger part of the purchase mix in Q3 2026. According to Tesla’s Q3 2026 earnings report, more than 75% of new vehicles delivered in North America during the quarter included FSD, and active FSD subscriptions reached a record 1.74 million. The quarter also featured $28.05 billion in revenue and $5.49 billion in gross profit.
Attach Rate Climbs Nearly 20 Points in One Quarter
More than 75% of new Teslas delivered in North America now include FSD (Supervised), either via purchase or subscription. In Q2, the figure was 55%, a rise of nearly 20 percentage points in a single quarter, as highlighted by @DevinOlsenn.

Tesla said FSD is boosting demand where available and that it is collaborating with regulators to expand availability. Elon Musk reacted on X:
People are buying FSD with a car attached, not the other way around
Record Net Additions
Active FSD subscriptions (including legacy lifetime purchases) now total 1.74 million, up 67% from 1.04 million a year earlier. That represents roughly 260,000 (or 17.5%) more than Q2, and Tesla said it added more subscribers in Q3 than in any prior quarter. For comparison, the count at the end of Q2 was 1.48 million. The one-time purchase option has been removed in most markets, so subscriptions account for most adoption now.

Q3 2026 Results
Revenue of $28.05 billion came in just below the $28.3 billion consensus and was roughly flat year over year. Gross profit rose to $5.49 billion from $5.05 billion, and gross margin improved to 19.6% from 18.0%. Tesla cited higher ancillary sales, primarily from FSD subscriptions, among the contributors.
Non-GAAP EPS was $0.48 versus a $0.45 estimate, adjusted EBITDA was $3.90 billion, GAAP net income was $787 million, and free cash flow was $1.53 billion. Capex reached $4.73 billion, while cash and marketable securities increased 9% year over year to $45.45 billion.
Software Progress and Europe’s Role
Adoption is accelerating alongside ongoing improvements. A recent example showed a Cybertruck using FSD to clear a path for an ambulance at a red light, turning across three lanes from a full stop and rerouting automatically.
Upcoming enhancements include navigation improvements and pothole detection, along with routing that learns preferred paths. FSD v15 is expected later this year or early next year and is planned to increase the neural network’s parameters 10x, from about 1 billion to 10 billion.

FSD’s footprint is expanding beyond North America. In Europe, it is now called Tesla Assisted Driving, a change tied to conditions from Germany in support of an EU-wide approval. Slovakia recently became the ninth European country to approve the software independently. A vote on bloc-wide approval is expected in December, with a qualified majority of at least 15 countries required.
If the vote succeeds and v15 arrives on schedule, Q4 results will indicate whether the attach rate can move above 75% and whether Europe begins to contribute materially.
