You’ll Be Able to Control Tesla’s FSD With Grok

Tesla’s integration of the Grok AI assistant from xAI (now SpaceX) has already changed how drivers interact with in-vehicle navigation. According to a recent post from Elon Musk, Grok will soon let you specify exactly how you want to park when you arrive at your destination.

Natural Language Parking

With the 2025 Holiday Update, Tesla drivers can already use natural language with Grok to add waypoints, find specific destinations, or completely reroute their trip on the fly. However, upon arrival, Autopark and FSD generally default to the parking maneuver and location the vehicle deems most efficient for the detected space.

Park at Destination options can adjust how the vehicle approaches parking, but they are limited, and you don’t have control over the exact location the vehicle selects.

This is expected to change with the ability to tell Grok precisely how to park upon arrival. For example, a driver may be able to say: ðNavigate to the grocery store and back into a parking spot," or "Take me home and pull forward into the driveway.’

A post on X noted that the greatest shortcoming of FSD was that it could not be prompted to find a parking spot near the door or to turn right at the block after, to which Musk responded, ðComing.’

Bridging the Gap

Although it may seem like a small convenience, giving drivers verbal control over the final parking maneuver helps bridge the gap between autonomous driving and individual preferences, especially given the currently limited state of Actually Smart Summon.

If you need access to the trunk to load heavy groceries or lumber but Autopark chooses to back into a space tight against a wall, it creates friction. Likewise, many home charging setups require a specific parking orientation in a garage so the cable can reach the charging port.

Letting Grok understand and carry out specific parking orientationsâsuch as backing in, pulling forward, or parallel parking on a particular side of the streetâcould make the experience more personalized and autonomous, moving FSD closer to a personalized chauffeur.

Converging AGI and FSD

This forthcoming capability underscores why Tesla integrated Grok into the vehicle infotainment system.

Grok acts as a communication bridge, letting passengers issue specific instructions to the neural net without tapping the screen or manually taking the wheel.
