Tesla Files New Roadster Trademark Ahead of Public Reveal
Tesla has taken another visible step toward unveiling the next-generation Roadster by filing a new trademark that appears to depict the car’s logo or badge. After years of anticipation, the filing suggests the official debut may be approaching.
According to details shared by Tesla watcher Sawyer Merritt (@SawyerMerritt), the design shows a triangular shield featuring the Roadster wordmark, with vertical lines at the base. Tesla’s filing states the lines represent "speed, propulsion, heat, or wind." It’s the latest in a series of Roadster-related trademarks, indicating the company is settling on final branding.

The Bar is Set for an "Unforgettable" Debut
On the company’s Q1 2026 earnings call last month, CEO Elon Musk said Tesla is aiming to unveil the production Roadster sometime this month. The date has shifted from April Fool’s Day to late April, and now to May. Musk has previously said the Roadster’s demo will be "unforgettable," setting high expectations for a vehicle first teased in 2017.
Banned F1 Tech and Mind-Blowing Specs
Tesla has promised a 0-60 mph time of less than two seconds. To help enable that, the company has patented an advanced aerodynamic system based on "fan car" technology — an approach so effective at producing downforce and speed that it was banned from Formula 1 decades ago.
Another patent detailed a one-piece monolithic seat design that could offer the structural support required for the significant G-forces the car may generate. Alongside talk of rocket thrusters and F1-inspired aerodynamics, the Roadster’s hardware points to an approach that leans as much on aerospace concepts as traditional automotive design.
Will May Finally Be the Month?
Although "next month" has been cited before, the combination of new trademark activity and recent earnings-call remarks suggests a May reveal is plausible. If Tesla does unveil the Roadster this month, the new logo signals that the wait is nearly over, and a demo could be just weeks away.
