U.S. Model Y L Deliveries Slip to January–March 2027 for Many

Tesla Model Y L

Some U.S. buyers of the six-seat Tesla Model Y L are experiencing longer-than-expected wait times. Customers who ordered shortly after orders opened are now seeing delivery estimates pushed back.

One buyer reported a mid-October handover that was “pushed out 3 to 4 months.” Similar accounts have appeared online.

Deliveries Pushed Into 2027

Tesla launched the Model Y L in the U.S. in early July, starting with a $61,990 Launch Series trim. Initial timelines called for first deliveries in September, and early orders showed September to October windows.

Those estimates have since slipped. New Model Y L Launch Series orders in the U.S. now list January to March 2027 for all configurations, up from January to February. Some customers with existing orders are seeing February to April 2027.

Some Owners Are Already Receiving Vehicles

Not everyone is waiting. Owner @cscarroll took delivery of one of the first Launch Series vehicles in South Florida last week, trading in a 2022 Model X. He noted a “smoother and quieter ride,” upgraded seats, and better air conditioning than his 2025 Model Y.

The reasons for the mixed timing are unclear. Tesla has not commented. Supply or production constraints in the U.S. are possible, and the Model Y L differs from the regular Model Y, including a longer wheelbase.

Model Y L Highlights and U.S.-Specific Notes

The Model Y L is Tesla’s first true three-row, six-seat Model Y. It is 7 inches longer than the standard Model Y and features second-row captain’s chairs, a powered third row, and an adaptive suspension tuned for comfort. It also adds premium cabin features, including some of Tesla’s most advanced climate controls.

Despite its size, it accelerates from 0–60 mph in 4.4 seconds. It is more efficient than the standard Model Y, with up to 328 miles of EPA-estimated range, and it beat its range estimates in real-world testing.

The North American Model Y L differs from the China-built version in a few ways. For example, it does not include Tesla’s actively cooled 50-watt wireless phone chargers, though Tesla has confirmed those will come later.

Customers with a Model Y L on order should check their Tesla account for updated delivery windows. Until Tesla explains the delays, it remains unclear whether launch-era orders will move back up or stay pushed into next year.
