Smart Breaker Support

This update contains code indicating Tesla may add support for Smart Breakers. In a typical home, lights and outlets are connected to the electrical panel and its circuit breakers, which control power delivery to different parts of the house.

Smart breakers include extra sensors and connectivity (for example, WiFi) so they can be controlled remotely. Beyond switching a breaker on or off from afar, they can report the energy consumed by devices connected to that breaker.

If Tesla Energy integrates smart breaker support, Powerwall users could have the option to automatically switch off specific breakers and devices when a home loses grid power. Shutting off high-energy loads—such as central air conditioning—would allow Powerwalls to sustain a home’s power for a longer period.

Some of the new strings found in the code include:

  • 'energy_customize_smart_breakers_description': 'Smart Breakers allow you to monitor home loads during normal daily usage and while off-grid.'
  • 'energy_customize_smart_breaker_command_error': 'Failed to toggle the breaker'
  • 'energy_customize_smart_breaker_item_energy_description': '{{energy}} today'

Digital Wallet Key Support

Tesla Digital Wallet Key Support feature in update 4.52.0

The app update also contains code suggesting forthcoming support for digital wallet-based vehicle keys.

New strings in the app mention the ability to “unlock your vehicle without opening the app.” Those phrases specifically reference harmony, which likely refers to Huawei’s HarmonyOS, implying early development for Harmony Wallet integration.

The strings indicate Tesla may enable users on HarmonyOS to add a vehicle key directly into the phone’s system wallet. That would allow unlocking without relying on the Tesla app running in the foreground, and would provide the lower-power, OS-level reliability typical of native wallet keys.

Native wallet keys can enable features such as unlocking even when the device is powered off and generally reduce dependence on a background app process. If Tesla adds support for Harmony Wallet, it could later extend similar native wallet integrations to Apple Wallet and Google Wallet.

Some of the new strings found in the code include:

  • 'harmony_fallback_screen_title': 'Feature not available in current version'
  • 'vehicle_vendor_key_card_harmony_wallet_issue_description': 'Unlock your vehicle without opening the app'
  • 'vehicle_vendor_key_card_harmony_wallet_issue_success': 'Successfully improved Phone Key performance. You can now unlock your vehicle without opening the app.'
