A busy Supercharger is less frustrating when you have another compatible charging option nearby. OmniVolt puts CCS1 and J1772 connections in one adapter, so you can consider supported DC fast chargers and AC destination chargers instead of carrying a separate adapter for each.
Two connector types, two different stops
CCS1 is used for DC fast charging. J1772 is used for AC charging, including many destination chargers at hotels, workplaces and garages. OmniVolt combines those two connection options for a compatible Tesla NACS vehicle. The connector is one part of the decision: the car's hardware and the station's access rules matter too.
Check CCS capability before planning a stop
Tesla's instructions explain that not every vehicle has CCS charging capability. Use Controls, Software, Additional Vehicle Information to check the relevant charging-support status, or contact Tesla. A physical adapter cannot add a missing vehicle communication capability. Confirm your exact build and the selected OmniVolt option before relying on CCS charging.
Know the rating and follow the connection instructions
OmniVolt has UL 2252 Listing and an IP65 rating. Follow the supplied connection, operating and storage instructions. Keep the connector clean and inspect it before use; a weather-resistance rating does not make damaged equipment safe to use.

One adapter gives you two connection options
The practical value is having the CCS1 and J1772 options together. Charging speed still depends on the vehicle, charger, battery state, temperature and applicable limits. The adapter does not guarantee the fastest rate or an empty station. Check the network's access and session-start process before you travel.
A useful addition for the right driver
If you use compatible destination charging or want supported alternatives on a road trip, the combined adapter can earn its place in the car. If home charging and your existing routes already meet your needs, there may be less reason to add it. Choose for the charging options you will actually use.
