Tesla Cybercab purchase interest form

Elon Musk unveiled the Cybercab in August 2024, and interest in ordering has persisted since. After public passenger rides began in Austin last week, Tesla introduced an official Robotaxi interest form on its website.

Titled “Help Us Build Our Robotaxi Network,” the new page invites external partners to register interest in future commercial opportunities to buy Cybercabs. Instead of functioning as an immediate reservation checkout for private buyers, it provides a direct channel for enterprises that want to participate in Tesla’s expanding Robotaxi service.

At the Cybercab launch event in Austin last week, Tesla did not share retail pricing or order details. Presentations focused on the purpose-built two-seater’s specs, manufacturing innovations, and the robotaxi roadmap.

Geared for Fleets, Hubs, and Infrastructure Partners

The form’s structure makes the target audience clear: Tesla is seeking business clients rather than individual commuters.

Along with standard fields such as names, contact information, and target deployment regions, the questionnaire requires a Company Name. Applicants can choose from four primary areas of interest:

  • Cybercab fleet vehicle purchasing
  • Mobility hubs and infrastructure
  • Event collaboration
  • Other

The portal is built for commercial fleet operators that plan to buy fleets of purpose-built autonomous vehicles to run on Tesla’s Robotaxi network. It also seeks infrastructure partners capable of building high-capacity turnaround depots, aligning with Tesla’s plans for automated charging and cleaning hubs.

For individuals hoping to purchase a single Cybercab for private use and rent it out on the Robotaxi service during downtime, an open consumer order page has not yet appeared.

Cybercab rides at Giga Texas

Tesla recently asked Cybercab riders how it could improve the vehicle. Meanwhile, commercial Cybercab rides alone have led to a formal NHTSA investigation.

Delivery Timelines and Global Expansion

Cybercabs are currently offering public rides only in Austin, so customer deliveries to private buyers are likely still some time away. Tesla maintains that direct sales will happen eventually. Musk previously claimed that Tesla could sell its first Cybercab to a customer for a sub-$30,000 sticker price before the end of this year, and he has an ongoing wager with popular creator MKBHD on the matter.

The fleet interest portal indicates Tesla is lining up commercial partners to scale deployments as Giga Texas ramps Cybercab production. It remains unclear whether the first Cybercab delivery to a private buyer or the start of commercial rides in Europe will come first. For now, commercial operators seeking to buy Cybercabs and join the Robotaxi network can formally express interest.
