Tesla is unveiling its high-volume electric truck manufacturing lines today during a dedicated Semi Rollout event at its factory in Sparks, Nevada.

Invitations for the presentation went out earlier this month, drawing fleet operators, investors, and logistics partners to see the commercial freight platform enter large-scale manufacturing.

Date and Time

  • Pacific Time: September 24, 6:00 PM
  • Eastern Time: September 24, 9:00 PM
  • UTC: September 25, 1:00 AM
  • London, England: September 25, 2:00 AM
  • Berlin, Germany: September 25, 3:00 AM
  • Sydney, Australia: September 25, 11:00 AM

How to Watch

Tesla will livestream today’s event on its official website, and dedicated streams for X and YouTube are also expected.

What to Expect

The 1.7 million-square-foot dedicated Semi plant is designed to eventually scale up to 50,000 trucks annually. The facility is online and will supply trucks for both domestic routes and overseas deliveries.

Tesla Semi
  • A refreshed Semi on display, providing an in-depth look at the updated design headed into mass production.
  • Guided factory-floor tours covering vertically integrated pack construction, automated sub-assemblies, and final vehicle lines.
  • Demo ride-alongs highlighting the centered cockpit, low-vibration acoustic glass, and independent front suspension under load.
  • Technical briefings on manufacturing upgrades such as 48-volt electrical architectures, electric steering assistance, and custom high-density 4680 cells.
  • Real-world operational economics showing how low maintenance and high powertrain efficiency can deliver a lower total cost of ownership than diesel rigs.
  • An update on autonomy features for the Semi, after Tesla recently confirmed Full Self-Driving (Supervised) is coming to the truck. Validation Semi units with FSD testing hardware were also recently spotted on public roads.
  • International availability timelines, potentially expanding on the European version of the Tesla Semi that’s slated to begin deliveries in 2027.
  • Potential announcements of new Semi orders as fleet operators sign on for commercial allocations.

A Refresher on the Refreshed Semi

Tesla originally unveiled the Semi concept in late 2017, with customer deliveries limited to small pilot programs starting in late 2022. Momentum accelerated last fall when Tesla introduced the refreshed Semi in Standard Range and Long Range configurations, followed by the first production units rolling off new lines in Nevada earlier this spring.

The new Semi includes exterior updates such as a reprofiled front light bar reminiscent of the Model Y, improved mirrors, and upgraded steering actuators. Its heavy-duty electronics enable connection to Megacharger stations capable of up to 1.2 MW of DC fast charging, allowing drivers to recover up to 60% range during a 30-minute rest break. Here are the production specs:

Spec Standard Range Long Range
Range ~325 mi ~500 mi
Energy Consumption 1.7 kWh/mi 1.7 kWh/mi
Fast Charging Up to 60% in 30 minutes Up to 60% in 30 minutes
Charge Type MCS 3.2 MCS 3.2
Powertrain 3 independent motors on rear axles 3 independent motors on rear axles
Drive Power Up to 800kW Up to 800kW
Curb Weight <20,000 lbs 23,000 lbs
ePTO* Up to 25kW Up to 25kW

*ePTO is the Electric Power Take-Off, which can run trailer functions like refrigeration.

With high-volume lines now operating in Sparks, the Semi is progressing from an engineering program to a mainstream commercial vehicle for long-haul freight.
