Tesla has reinstated the seven-seat interior for the Model Y in Europe after a brief pause following last year’s "Juniper" refresh.
Tesla Europe confirmed the return, stating that the seven-seat configuration is now offered with the Model Y Premium Long Range All-Wheel Drive in the region. The availability comes with some limitations.
Seven Seats for the Premium AWD
The third row is not available across all Model Y variants; it is exclusive to the Premium Long Range All-Wheel Drive (AWD). In countries such as Germany and the Netherlands, adding two forward-facing individual seats costs 822,500.
This update follows the U.S. launch of the seven-seat Juniper refresh earlier this month. European buyers can choose black or white interior colors. The refresh adds a black headliner, an upgraded 16-inch central touchscreen, and an option for new 20-inch Helix wheels. For families on the go, the second row includes an eight-inch display for climate and entertainment control.
Model Y L: Still a China Exclusive
Many European families have also been watching the Model Y L — a longer version of the SUV with a wheelbase extended by 150mm that offers a true 2-2-2 seating layout and more rear legroom.
Despite receiving type approval in the EU late last year, the Model Y L remains unavailable in Europe. It was recently approved for sale in Australia, which may become its first market outside of China. Reintroducing the seven-seat option on the standard wheelbase model may help maintain interest among larger families, suggesting it could be some time before the stretched "L" version reaches European showrooms.
Performance and Practicality
Even with seven passengers, the Model Y remains strong on performance. The Premium AWD configuration offers a WLTP range of up to 600 kilometers and accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.8 seconds. Storage capacity is 381 liters behind the third row — enough for two standard carry-on suitcases — expanding to 894 liters with the rear seats folded.
Deliveries of the seven-seat variant from Gigafactory Berlin are currently estimated for April to May 2026.
