Tesla Officially Announces Semi for Europe, Launching 2027

Tesla has confirmed the Semi for Europe, detailing a 550 km range, 800 kW Megacharging, refreshed styling, and first customer deliveries beginning in 2027.

After Tesla confirmed last month that the Semi would be coming to Europe, official regional sites are now live with technical specifications, payload limits, and a delivery roadmap for freight operators. The announcement was posted on X by the @teslaeurope account. Deliveries in the region are slated to begin in 2027.

Tailored Specs and European Megacharging

According to Tesla’s newly published German Semi website, the truck is estimated to consume 1.0 kWh/km and offers up to 550 km (about 342 miles) of range while hauling a full 40-metric-ton gross combination weight. The version bound for Europe aligns with the Standard Range Semi offered in the U.S.

*ePTO is the Electric Power Take-Off, which can run trailer functions like refrigeration.

European customers will have two charging hardware options:

Megacharger: Delivers up to 800 kW (vs. up to 1.2 MW in the U.S.) and can replenish roughly 60% of the pack in 30 minutes during standard driver rest breaks.
Basecharger: Operates at 120 kW, designed for overnight charging at logistics depots to restore 60% range in about four hours.

The powertrain uses three independent electric drive motors on the rear axles, providing peak drive power up to 800 kW without a manual transmission or diesel exhaust fluid. An ePTO outputs up to 25 kW to power auxiliary systems such as refrigerated trailers.

Design Tweaks and Production

Tesla unveiled its refreshed Semi design last fall, and the European model adopts styling tailored to local regulations. It trades bulky traditional side mirrors for a sleeker, more aerodynamic setup and replaces the continuous lightbar on the U.S. variant with standalone headlights styled similarly to the Model Y Standard.

Inside, the central driver seat is flanked by large touchscreens, with acoustic glass and added soundproofing. The cab includes a heated and ventilated captain’s chair and standing headroom.

Tesla confirmed earlier this summer that Full Self-Driving (Supervised) is coming to the Semi, and consumer FSD is expanding across Europe. Six EU member nations — most recently Slovenia — have approved FSD for use on their roads, with a vote for bloc-wide approval expected soon.

Initial European units will likely be produced in the U.S. at Tesla’s new dedicated Semi factory in Nevada, with a Semi event at that facility planned. Over time, production is expected to migrate to Gigafactory Berlin.
