Model Y owners benefit from a highly practical cabin with generous cargo capacity, but the large trunk can let smaller items slide during acceleration or sharp turns. After years of relying on third-party solutions, a first-party option is now available.

Managing the Cargo Space

The official Tesla Shop has introduced the Model Y Expandable Trunk Organizer, a $245 accessory with four expandable bins and two mesh pockets to keep items in place.

Model Y Expandable Trunk Organizer

Tesla’s entry-level Model Y offers 29.5 cubic feet (835 liters) of trunk space in standard configuration, expanding to 70.8 cubic feet (2004 liters) with the second row folded flat. The organizer is designed to sit in the main trunk area behind the second-row seats when they are upright. It includes 4 integrated, non-removable bins, and each compartment can fold completely flat independently to quickly free up floor space for larger items.

Sub-Trunk Organizer

Tesla is also selling a Sub-Trunk Organizer for $115. It fits the hidden lower trunk well beneath the floorboard and provides 2.1-2.9 cubic feet (59-82 liters) of storage capacity. “Designed to fit securely in your sub-trunk, the Model Y Sub-Trunk Organizer helps keep your belongings organized and concealed. With two removable dividers, you can easily customize your storage,” the official product listing reads.

The accessory includes one bin and two removable dividers to create sections as needed, and it is compatible with all Model Y vehicles produced in 2025 or later. It simplifies storing mobile charging equipment and other gear in the sub-trunk while keeping everything out of sight.

Accessory Expansion in the Shop

Tesla has been broadening its accessory catalog. Recently, the store began offering the Cybertruck Off-Road Light Bar separately, an item that was initially bundled only with Foundation Series Cyberbeast orders. The Tesla Shop also launched a retractable sunshade for the Model Y’s glass roof on the Chinese store page for about $220 USD.

Before purchasing the new trunk organizer, note that it is not compatible with seven-seat Model Y configurations due to different trunk space.

Internal sources indicate that Tesla’s three-row, six-seat Model Y L is launching this fall in North America, targeting an August-September release window. For five-seat vehicles, the $245 folding organizer and $115 customizable sub-trunk organizer are available to order now.
