Tesla vehicles across Europe are receiving an intelligence boost as xAI’s Grok chatbot begins its international rollout. After making its debut in North America last year, the assistant is arriving in European vehicles via software update 2026.2.6.
This marks the first expansion of Grok to non‑English-speaking markets with localized support. North American owners have been using the chatbot for general queries since software version 2025.26, and more recently for navigation commands, while European owners are getting both the general assistant and navigation support at the same time.
Grok Becomes Your Personal Guide
The highlight of this release is Grok with Navigation Commands. Unlike the standard voice system that depends on rigid phrases, Grok understands natural language. You can speak naturally to have it add, edit, and organize navigation destinations, effectively turning it into a personal guide.
It can also field complex, multi-step requests, such as finding a highly rated Thai restaurant near your current location or planning a sightseeing tour. It can handle nuanced tasks like locating a Supercharger within walking distance of a coffee shop, shifting the experience from a passive screen to a proactive assistant.
Availability
The rollout has initially started in nine countries: the U.K., Ireland, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Italy, France, Portugal, and Spain. Owners in these regions will need an active Premium Connectivity subscription and a vehicle equipped with an AMD Ryzen processor.
To get started, the assistant can be accessed from the App Launcher or by long-pressing the voice button on the steering wheel. Grok offers multiple voices and personalities to choose from, including Assistant, Storyteller, Unhinged, Therapist, Argumentative, and more. Set Grok’s personality to Assistant to enable support for navigation commands.
What is Next for Europe?
While the initial list covers much of Western Europe, more markets are planned. Based on how European feature releases are typically handled, an expansion into the Nordic countries and Central Europe is likely in the coming weeks.
This update moves European owners closer to the features available in North America, with FSD potentially being the next major feature to arrive in Europe.
There is still no word on when Grok will become available for vehicles with Intel infotainment units.
