Tesla is continuing its rapid pace of software iteration, and the holidays aren’t slowing the company down. With software update 2025.45.5 and FSD V14.2.2, Tesla addressed another user frustration that was identified earlier in December.
When FSD V14 rolled out, Tesla added prominent camera-visibility warnings that appear when cameras are obscured by dirt, debris, or glare. Early versions, however, drew criticism because the alerts were often unclear about which specific camera was affected—the prompt was generic and included only a camera image.
The Feedback Loop
On December 13, several users raised the same complaint about the new alerts.
My issue with this warning is that it does not identify which camera is affected.

Additionally, when I check Service → Camera Visibility, it consistently reports “No camera visibility issues detected.” https://t.co/ys1cl3u4uC
Although the camera image provided context, it was often hard to tell precisely which camera was impacted—especially those facing rearward. As a result, users tended to clean all cameras instead of a single lens, which added time to the routine.
The feedback drew the attention of Yun-Ta Tsai, a Senior Staff Software Engineer on the AI team. Tsai noted that the team had seen the feedback and would improve the prompt. Source
The Fix
The improvement arrived in an undocumented update with FSD V14.2.2 and 2025.45.5.
The new notification now includes a text label over the camera image that explicitly states which camera is obscured. The design mirrors the vehicle’s Dashcam app, keeping the UI consistent.
This small quality-of-life change removes the guessing game for drivers, letting them clean the correct lens quickly and return to driving with FSD at full capacity.
