Tesla Files Trademarks for Next-Gen Roadster; Reveal Soon

Tesla has submitted two trademark applications for the long-awaited next-generation Roadster, a sign that the vehicle’s official debut may be approaching.

The filings were sent to the US Patent and Trademark Office on February 3, 2026, and cover both a new stylized wordmark and a separate design logo, similar to the Cybertruck’s two-part logo.

The filings align with comments from Elon Musk at the Q3 2025 and Q4 2025 Earnings Calls, where he confirmed that Tesla is targeting April 1st, 2026 as the updated reveal date for the new supercar.

ROADSTER Wordmark

The first application (SN 99630872) is for the word ROADSTER rendered in a stylized font. The application is classified under IC012, which covers electric land vehicles and their parts.

Although the filing states color is not claimed as a feature of the mark, the specific typography suggests the treatment could appear on the production Roadster’s rear or door sills.

Flowing Triangle Design

The second application (SN 99630860) covers a design described as “a triangle design consisting of three flowing, curved lines”.

The logo is minimalistic, again comparable to the Cybertruck’s simple triangle logo. It appears to depict the Roadster’s side profile in three strokes — the roof plus the front and rear quarter panels. Like the wordmark, this application is classified under IC012, which covers electric land vehicles and their parts.

Roadster Might Actually Be Here

The filings were signed by Keaton Parekh, Tesla’s Associate General Counsel and Head of IP, suggesting a concerted effort to lock down final branding rights ahead of a launch.

After Tesla discontinued the Model S and Model X, many feared the upcoming Roadster would suffer the same fate. That does not appear to be the case, and Musk has recently spoken about the Roadster.

The timing is notable after nearly a decade of delays since Tesla first announced plans for a new Roadster and ahead of a planned launch this April. With the trademarks pending and an unforgettable product demo coming up, it appears that Elon Musk’s “hardcore smackdown to gasoline cars” may actually get built.
