Tesla App Version 4.62.0 Preps X Money for Supercharging and FSD

Tesla owners may soon have another way to pay in the Tesla app. Code found in Tesla app version 4.62.0 (and later) indicates Tesla is preparing to add X Money as a payment method.
X Money is the digital payment platform built into X. It lets users send money to one another and pay using an X wallet balance or a linked bank account.
What You Could Pay For
Once enabled, X Money could be set up as a payment method in the Tesla app and used for Tesla Shop purchases, Supercharging sessions, and Full Self-Driving (Supervised) subscriptions.
This is not the first time X Money has appeared in Tesla’s code; a recent Robotaxi app update hinted at X Money payments for rides, suggesting the capability is being rolled out across Tesla’s apps.
The same Tesla app update also added official support for iPad, iPhone Duo, and Android tablets and foldables, and included code for an FSD referral program that gives owners free FSD time when someone subscribes using their link.
Musk’s Companies Keep Getting Closer
X Money already plays a role at Tesla. Customers can use it to pay the $5,000 upfront deposit to reserve the new Roadster, which Tesla unveiled earlier this month. The remainder of the reservation amount requires a wire transfer.
Looking ahead, ties between Musk’s companies may deepen: Tesla and SpaceX, which owns both X and X Money, recently formed special committees to discuss a potential merger.
There is no announced timeline for X Money support in the Tesla app, but the functionality is present in the code. It may launch alongside X Money payments in the Robotaxi app, providing owners and riders the same option across both.
