Tesla owners with Android phones now have parity with iPhone users for monitoring Supercharging sessions. The Tesla app on Android supports interactive, real-time notifications on the lock screen and in the notification area, letting you view charging progress without unlocking the phone or opening the app.
@samsonusmc highlighted the rollout on X, sharing an image of the new notifications. Backend code for these real-time, dynamic Android notifications was present in version 4.58.0 of the mobile app earlier this month, and the feature is now rolling out publicly.
Parity With iOS Live Activities
Tesla introduced real-time charging alerts with support for iOS Live Activities in May 2025. Live Activities let Apple users track food deliveries, ride-hailing, and EV charging with notifications that sit in convenient places and refresh every few seconds.
Android introduced its counterpart, called Live Updates, with Android 16 last year, and the Tesla app for Android now supports it. The notification block on the lock screen and in the notification area shows your custom vehicle avatar and a charging progress bar. It updates your current state of charge percentage, an estimated cost for the charging session, and the time remaining until you reach your charge limit, all in real time. It also provides a text countdown indicating how long until you have sufficient range to continue on your planned route.
Expanding Across the Ecosystem
Evidence in version 4.57.5 indicates Tesla is working on home heat pump integration for its mobile ecosystem. There’s no timeline yet for when that climate management capability will arrive.
Live Updates on Android are expected to expand beyond charging. Tesla launched its dedicated Robotaxi app on Android earlier this spring, and since iPhone users already have Live Activities for autonomous ride-hailing trips, Android users should get Live Updates for Robotaxi rides as well.
