Tesla 2026.26 Summer Update: What Each Model and Hardware Version Gets

Tesla’s mid-year software update is now rolling out worldwide as software update 2026.26. The release delivers a substantial set of new features, interface refinements, and usability improvements.

It follows closely after the company’s Summer Update announcement. Because the fleet spans different models, refreshes, hardware generations, and regions, availability varies. Below is a detailed list of what each model and hardware configuration receives in 2026.26.

Preferred Routes

The navigation system can now prioritize the specific roads and daily routes you’ve taken before, tailoring trip planning to your habits whether you’re driving manually or using Full Self-Driving.

Availability: Available on both older Intel-based vehicles and newer AMD-powered builds. Initial rollout appears limited to the U.S.

Auto Navigation Improvements

Automatic navigation goes beyond Home, Work, and calendar events. The trip planner can now automatically load directions to frequently visited places, such as a gym or school drop-offs, as soon as you get in.

Availability: Rolling out across most global regions for both Intel and AMD infotainment hardware.

Grok Vehicle Commands

The SpaceXAI-made assistant now directly controls vehicle functions. You can place phone calls, search for and play music, adjust cabin climate settings, and navigate the Settings menu by voice. The update also expands Grok access across Europe and new Asian markets and enables the “Hey Grok” wake word in more regions.

Availability: Limited exclusively to vehicles equipped with AMD Ryzen processors in North America, Europe, and supported Asian markets.

Web Browser Video Calling

The built-in web browser now has permission to use the interior cabin camera and microphone, enabling video calls. While parked, the center screen can be used for web-based conferencing platforms, including Microsoft Teams, Google Meet, and Discord.

Availability: Limited strictly to AMD Ryzen vehicles. Intel-powered models don’t support browser camera inputs.

Traction Control

New traction control options appear in the Dynamics menu. Modes include Auto for everyday driving, Slippery Surface for icy or wet roads, and Stuck Assist for surfaces like mud, snow, or sand. The system automatically resets to Auto on your next drive.

Availability: Exclusive to the 2024+ Model 3 in this release. The refreshed Model Y and Cybertruck already had these settings.

Caraoke With Live Scoring

The in-car karaoke app has been redesigned to function more like a rhythm game. It now shows lyric timing bars and pitch indicators and calculates a live score, note streak, and accuracy percentage that’s saved to your profile.

Availability: Available in most global regions, but restricted strictly to AMD-powered vehicles.

Customize Driving Visualization Zoom

You can now set a default zoom level for the Full Self-Driving visualization. Configure it by going to Controls > Self-Driving > Visualization Camera Zoom.

Availability: Rolling out to Model S and Model X across all markets. With update 2026.26.1, some Model 3s and Model Ys are also receiving it. Intel vehicles are also receiving this feature.

Custom Wrap Uploads From Mobile

Owners can now upload custom vehicle wraps as images directly from a phone via the Tesla mobile app to update the 3D digital car avatar, eliminating the need to use a USB drive.

Availability: Supported globally across all Intel and AMD vehicles. Requires mobile app v4.59.0 or later.

Camera Preview

The full camera preview interface can now be accessed while driving. Go to Controls > Service > Camera Preview to view individual cameras or use the grid button to see all feeds simultaneously.

Availability: Available worldwide across both Intel and AMD hardware configurations.

Set Arrival Energy From Mobile

The Tesla mobile app now lets you set a target battery percentage for when you arrive at a destination. Enter the destination under the location tab to define arrival energy before getting in the vehicle.

Availability: Available in most regions for Intel and AMD vehicles, requiring Tesla app v4.58.0 or newer.

Apple Music Queuing

Apple Music now supports queuing from search results and artist pages. Press and hold a track or use the three-dot menu to play next, add to queue, save to library, or mark as a favorite.

Availability: Available across both Intel and AMD models, requiring an active Apple Music subscription and Premium Connectivity.

Supercharger Search by Site Name

You can now search for Supercharger locations by site name, such as “Tesla Diner,” in addition to city or street address.

Availability: Available across all Tesla models and infotainment hardware globally.

New Welcome Animations

Opening the door on newer vehicles now triggers an animated sequence. Entry-level and Premium (formerly Long Range) models display a “TESLA” wordmark that glows to match the selected ambient lighting, with the color transitioning from the screen into interior lighting strips.

Performance models display a Ludicrous speed warp animation.

Availability: Exclusive to the 2024+ Model 3 and refreshed Model Y.

Turn Off Touch on Rear Display

The rear display can be locked from the Rear app on the main screen. This prevents back-seat passengers from changing climate controls or media playback.

Availability: Standard across all Tesla vehicles equipped with a dedicated rear passenger touchscreen.

Improved Lighting for Unreal Engine

The 3D vehicle model rendering, which moved to Unreal Engine in software update 2026.14 earlier this year, has updated lighting. Adjustments improve the color accuracy of paint and reflections in the digital avatar.
