After going public in June, SpaceX reported its first quarterly results as a public company. The company recorded $7.81 billion in revenue in Q2 2026, a 92% increase from $4.07 billion, surpassing expectations of $6.81 billion. Net losses narrowed to $541 million, down from $1.01 billion a year earlier.

Leadership said SpaceX holds roughly $100 billion in cash, cash equivalents, and marketable securities to support growth across launch, satellite connectivity, and AI infrastructure. Starship Test Flights and Reusability Milestones

Starship remains central to future constellation deployments. Elon Musk said Starship Flight 14 is slated for the end of this month, with an attempt to catch the upper stage upon return to advance rapid reusability.

He added that this test will be the first to place operational hardware directly into orbit: SpaceX plans to launch next-generation Starlink V3 satellites on Starship Flight 14, putting them into operational orbit for the first time while also attempting a ship catch. Flight 13 last month tested Starlink V3 satellite deployment.

“I don’t want to jinx it or anything, but I think I would call the heat shield problem solved at this point. All indications from data and visual inspection is we have solved it. That doesn’t mean we won’t make improvement, but we do not see any technical obstacles to achieving rapid reusability at this point.”

Musk also raised the possibility of launching Starship daily a year from now.

Starlink Growth and the Upcoming Starlink Mobile Service

Connectivity remains SpaceX’s primary revenue driver, with Starlink generating $4.29 billion during the quarter. Starlink doubled its subscriber base year over year to 12 million active users, adding a record 1.7 million net subscribers in Q2. SpaceX President and COO Gwynne Shotwell noted, “Starlink had a standout quarter. We added net more than 1.7 million subscribers globally, our best quarter to date.”

Starlink also launched its new V5 dish in Q2 to broaden residential broadband access. Musk said it’s possible Starlink could provide the majority of the world’s internet in less than 10 years. The company is targeting gigabit-level satellite broadband, which will require roughly 1,000 V3 satellites in orbit to unlock the next major leap. With the first Starlink V3 satellites expected to join the constellation on the next Starship test flight, leadership said this could arrive by Q2 2027.

The biggest potential disruption lies in consumer cellular. SpaceX plans to roll out a standalone Starlink Mobile service by the end of 2027 to eliminate cellular dead zones. The company already offers satellite cellular connectivity in several countries via partnerships with operators such as T-Mobile in the U.S., but launching its own service with no dead zones could pressure traditional providers.

“Roughly, between them, $600 billion a year. I anticipate us to be able to acquire quite a few of their customers. Our service will be better. We will eliminate dead zones leveraging the satellites in orbit. It will be better during any natural disaster. I’m quite excited about Starlink Mobile.”

AI Compute and Infrastructure

SpaceX’s AI revenue grew 247% year over year to $2.56 billion in Q2, supported by $15.8 billion in quarterly capital expenditures for buildouts. Capex projections were further boosted by SpaceX’s deal to acquire AI startup Cursor for $60 billion to accelerate enterprise software.

The company operates 1.4 GW of nameplate compute and expects to reach 2 GW by the end of 2026, scaling toward 10 GW cumulatively next year. Executives said SpaceX is deploying AI compute faster and more efficiently than any other company. Some capacity is being leased through contracts with companies like Google and Anthropic, contributing significantly to annual revenue.

“We expect to end this year with over 2 GW of compute. Cumulative by end of next year will be several times higher. Closer to 10GW of compute than 5GW of compute. We’ve decided to build exclusively on Nvidia. We think Vera Rubin is the best architecture.”

SpaceX is also taking Nvidia architecture into orbit. Under a hardware deal with Nvidia, the company will supply CPUs and GPUs to power Starlink’s Starmind AI satellites. SpaceX plans to begin launching orbital data centers featuring Nvidia Vera Rubin chips in 2027 while it continues co-developing custom silicon with Tesla and Intel through the TERAFAB project.

Grok Roadmap and SpaceXAI Integration

Following SpaceX’s acquisition of xAI, which was rebranded into the internal SpaceXAI division, model development is moving quickly.

“We have Grok 4.6 coming out next week, then Grok 4.7 about 3-4 weeks from today. We expect the cadence of AI development to improve dramatically. With Grok 5, which should be end of year, we’ll be incorporating the entire corpus of SpaceX data.”

By ingesting engineering telemetry, manufacturing logs, and orbital flight data, Grok 5 is intended to function as an advanced engineering intelligence platform. Musk said Grok 5 could become the best model for engineering since it will be trained on all of SpaceX’s data.

Overall, the report shows launch operations, satellite broadband, and orbital compute converging into a unified strategy. As SpaceX moves toward a $100 billion annualized run-rate by the end of this year, continued capital investment is expanding the company’s capabilities across space and AI.
