Why we made this

Most car scents give you a headache by exit three.

You know the feeling. Ten minutes in, there's a dull pressure behind your eyes. On a long drive it turns your stomach. You crack a window in February because the alternative is worse.

That is what happens when a fragrance is built to be loud and cheap: a big synthetic top note, blasted at full strength from day one, in an enclosed space you can't leave.

A Tesla cabin makes it worse, not better. It's sealed tighter than most cars, it's quiet, and the air is already filtered — so anything artificial in it has nowhere to hide.

Scent intensity
Scent intensity over thirty days A cheap vent stick starts far above the comfortable range on day one, then collapses to nothing by week two. Aether opens below that range and holds a steady level for about thirty days before fading.
Day 0Day 15Day 30
Too strong — anything up here is where the headache lives.
Aether — opens below that line and holds for about 30 days, then fades.
A $20 vent stick — loudest on day one, gone by week two.

Illustrative — shows how each behaves, not measured data.

We wanted something we could sit in for two hours without noticing it, and still miss when it was gone.

Profile 01

First Light

The smell of delivery day, brought back.

First minutesBright and a little sharp — the moment the film comes off the seats.
After a weekSettles into warm leather over dry teakwood. Closer to a jacket than a car.
Best forAnyone who misses how their Tesla smelled the first month they had it.

What it isn't: sweet, and nothing like the blue "new car" tree at a car wash.

Profile 02

Exosphere

For people whose favourite smell is clean.

First minutesCool and airy, like a window opened onto cold morning air.
After a weekSoft laundry, almost not there. You notice it when you get out, not in.
Best forKids, dogs, gym bags, takeaway — anything you want gone rather than covered.

What it isn't: floral, soapy, or perfumey. Nobody will ask what you're wearing.

Profile 03

Apogee

Built for a car that has a life.

First minutesMineral and cool — salt air off water, before anything warm arrives.
After a weekDry coconut resting on sandalwood. Warm, but never sweet.
Best forLong drives, boards in the back, dogs with sandy paws.

What it isn't: suntan lotion. The coconut here is dry and woody, not tropical candy.

This is the one on stone, not wood. Wood carries its own warm, faintly sweet smell — which suits leather and linen, and gets in the way of salt and sandalwood. Porous stone adds nothing of its own and releases slower and drier, so the mineral opening survives.

Why a subscription

Scent runs out. That part isn't optional.

Any cartridge, ours or anyone's, is gone in about a month. So you are buying a new one every month either way. The only real question is whether you have to think about it.

What usually happens: you notice the car smells like gym bag again, you mean to reorder, you forget. Three weeks later you're still meaning to. Nobody sets a monthly reminder for an air freshener.

Buying it yourself

Remember. Reorder. Wait for shipping. Two to three weeks a year with nothing on the visor, because remembering is the hard part.

On subscription

The next cartridge lands as the current one fades. You change it and forget about it for another month. That's the entire feature.

Every month you put this off is another month of cracking the window, or another four-pack of sticks in the bin by week two. It is $18.99 a month — about 63¢ a day — and it is not a lock-in. Swap the scent, skip a month, or cancel from your account in one click. No email to write, no phone call, no retention script. We would rather you leave easily than stay annoyed.

A year in the making

So we stopped shopping for a supplier and went to a perfume house.

Aether was developed over a year with dm-firmenich in France — one of the handful of houses that formulate for the fragrance names you already know.

A year is an absurd amount of time for a car accessory. It went into the part nobody sees: how a scent behaves in a small sealed cabin that hits 40°C in a parking lot and 5°C overnight, across weeks — not how it smells for three seconds on a paper strip in a showroom.

Three profiles came out of it. Each one is built to open quietly, hold for about thirty days, and fade instead of turning.

Formulated, not sourced

Not a catalogue scent with our sticker on it. Three briefs, written for one cabin.

Tuned for heat

Built around what a sealed car actually does to fragrance across a summer week.

Nothing harsh

Vegan, cruelty-free, no parabens or phthalates. Safe with kids and pets in the car.

Why this costs more than a pack of vent sticks

You can buy four scent sticks for about twenty dollars. We know — we bought them all before we started. Here's the honest difference.

AetherA $20 four-pack
Formulated over a year with a perfume house in FranceCatalogue fragrance oil, chosen on price
Built to open quietly and hold for thirty daysLoudest on day one, gone by week two
Made for the visor of a sealed, filtered cabinUniversal vent clip, retrofitted to fit
Try all three before you settle on oneBuy blind and hope
Arrives on its own, as the last one fadesRemember, reorder, wait
Doesn't last the month? We replace itNo guarantee

If what you want is any smell at all, the four-pack is the better buy and we'd rather you spent your money there. Aether is for the case where the cheap ones have already given you a headache.

No games with your subscription.

Nothing is charged for the first 30 days — and if you cancel inside that window you keep the cartridge, the samples and the clip anyway. We would rather you tried it than wondered. After that, one cartridge of your chosen scent ships every 30 days and we charge $18.99 — same day, same price, no surprises. Switch, skip, or cancel any time, one click, from your account.

All of it happens in your subscription account at account.teslahubs.com — sign in with the same email you used at checkout. The link is in every order and shipping email we send you.

Change your scent

  1. Sign in and open your Aether subscription.
  2. Pick a different profile — First Light, Exosphere or Apogee.
  3. Save. The next cartridge ships in the new scent. No charge for switching, no limit on how often.

Skip or cancel

  1. Open the same subscription.
  2. Choose skip the next box to pause a month, or cancel to stop entirely.
  3. Done. No confirmation call, no one asking you to reconsider.

Changes made before your renewal date apply to the next box; after it ships, they apply to the one after. If you would rather not do it yourself, email hello@teslahubs.com and we will handle it — but you never have to.

What exactly comes in the first box? +

One full-size cartridge of the scent you chose — about thirty days — plus samples of the other two profiles and the magnetic visor clip. Shipping is free.

Why one full cartridge instead of all three? +

Because three full cartridges is three months of scent, and you'd be paying for refills you don't need yet while two sit unopened in a drawer. One full one runs out right as the next arrives. The samples are there so you can still try the other two.

What if I picked the wrong scent? +

Try the samples, then change your profile in your account. The next cartridge ships in the new scent. There's no charge for switching and no limit on how often.

Will it give me a headache like the cheap ones? +

That's the whole reason Aether exists. These are formulated to sit quietly in an enclosed cabin for weeks rather than shout on day one. If it still doesn't agree with you, the 30-day guarantee covers it.

What if I cancel before the first charge? +

Then you have paid nothing, and the cartridge, the samples and the clip are still yours. No invoice, no clawback, no restocking fee. That is the deal — we think most people keep it, and we are fine either way.

How do I cancel? +

Sign in, open your Aether subscription, choose cancel. The three steps above walk through it. No email, no phone call, no one trying to talk you out of it.

Does it fit my car? +

Model 3, Y, S and X. The clip is built around the actual visor geometry, not adapted from a universal vent mount.

What about Cybertruck? +

Not yet. The clip is tested on Model 3, Y, S and X visors only — we would rather say no than sell you one that doesn't sit right.
